Material flow control in an automated warehouse

For Helly Hansen’s European distribution center in Born (Netherlands), Material Flow Control (MFC) software was developed to manage the flow of materials in an automated warehouse.

The system is built around a 30,000-cell Autostore system and developed through partner Element Logic, with integration into a WMS system.

What was delivered

Development of MFC software for the Autostore system

MFC software was developed to coordinate the flow of boxes through the Autostore system and conveyor lines, with integration into the superordinate WMS system and PLC control.

01 Development of material flow control logic (C# / .NET, MS SQL).
02 Integration with a 30,000-cell Autostore system.
03 Connection to the Astro WMS warehouse management system.
04 PLC integration (Siemens S7-1500) and conveyor lines.

Results

Reliable flow in the distribution center

The MFC software supports reliable flow of up to 1,000 boxes per hour in the European distribution center, enabling a high level of warehouse automation and throughput.

The project demonstrates the ability to develop warehouse automation software in cooperation with leading integrators.
